working from home

Six expert tips for working from home
Working from home, or ‘remotely’ is becoming a very popular option in the workforce today with many companies offering their employees flexibility and freedom to manage their workload.
Whether you’re planning to work from home full-time or occasionally, here are some useful tips for making the most out of your time.
1. Get energizedTo ensure you have a productive day working from home, you have to really set yourself up by getting into a routine. Get ready in the morning as if you’re going to the office to face the day ahead, feeling your best.
It’s easy to think that this step is not important, but to have a productive day of working from home, you should really prepare yourself and get into the right head space.
2. Set your KPI’sTo strive towards your goals, you need to set your daily, weekly, or monthly KPI’s to reach your goals. When you’re working from home, write down your to-do list for the day to keep track of the major tasks that you need to get done.
It takes time to get into a new routine, but if you stick to it and your daily goals you will achieve your bigger goals, regardless of whether you work from home or in the office.
3. Set up your office spaceWorking from home is all about balance. While you are in the comfort of your home, you need a dedicated space where you can be productive.
This will also help you set a boundary for the rest of your family so that they know when you’re in your office, it’s work time. Make it comfortable for yourself, decorate the space with some inspirational quotes or candles. Access to zircon and natural light is also important.
4. Time managementWhile working from home offers great flexibility, it’s easy to lose track of time or get sidetracked on a task around your home.
To help you get through the day without losing track of your workload, set your work hours, or put a timer on your phone for the number of hours you need to work that day.
5. Boost productivityThere are various ways you can boost productivity, and everybody has their own tips and tricks on what works best for them.
It’s always great to have some music playing at home to keep your mood high and keep any distractions away from you so you can concentrate. This means making sure your TV is off, logging out of your social media accounts (unless it’s work related) and even closing the door.
6. Get movingThe longer you work from home, the more you realize that you don’t move as much as when you’re in the office. That’s where scheduling in some walks around your suburb or a short workout can help you stay in check with your health. Plus, some fresh air can really make a difference to your productivity.
As a general rule, when working from home, you can get things done that otherwise might be harder to do in the office, and these tips can help you accomplish more.
Of course, you know best what works for you, but these tips are based on my experience and can be an inspiration for you to try out and see if it makes a difference.
