What’s for breakfast? That’s always a big
question. Too often it’s nothing or maybe some coffee. Don’t do it! Let’s
answer that question very simply: fruit. That’s it. Fruit. That’s all you need
to remember. Fruit is such a great way to start out your day. Full of vitamins,
antioxidants and energy.
And here are a couple of great sorbets to
start out your day. Why not? Why not make breakfast as tasty and inviting as
can be? Or, if you prefer, you can add a little liquid (distilled water and
crushed ice are best) to make them into morning smoothies. Yum! This is a great
way to get incredibly amazing and tasty treats that are about as healthy as you
can get.
MANGO MAMBO SORBET
- INGREDIENTS:
- 5 bananas
- 4-6 dates (preferably the choice Medjool
variety)
- 2-3 mangoes
Slice the bananas into a mixing bowl or
container, and do the same after cutting up the dates and mangoes into a dice.
Pop the container into the freezer until they’re frozen. Obviously, doing these
steps ahead of breakfast time — days before or even the night before — will
make for a quick and easy morning meal.
Once frozen, put the fruit chunks into a
good, strong blender and blend at medium speed for one to two minutes. You may
need a little liquid to help get things moving, but don’t use much — just
enough to incorporate the fruit. A little distilled water and maybe a little
crushed ice would work best.
PINEAPPLE-ORANGE SORBET
- 1 whole fresh pineapple
- 2 Navel oranges
- 1 kiwi fruit
- 1 pint of freshly squeezed orange juice
- 4-6 mint leaves for a garnish
Freeze 1 pint of freshly squeezed orange
juice overnight. In the morning remove the peeling and the core from a whole
pineapple and dice it up. Then peel and dice up 2 fresh navel oranges. Slice
the kiwi. (You can also do the prep work for the pineapple, oranges and kiwi
the night before, too, to make this quick in the morning.)
Put the pineapple and the oranges into a
blender with the frozen OJ. Blend until smooth (approx. 1-2 minutes)! Put into
ice cream bowls and place the kiwi slices atop of the sorbet and garnish with
the mint leaves! All I can say is that this is an awesome way to start the day.
You’ll have the best sorbets you’ve ever
tasted, and it’s SO nutritious to boot. ENJOY it, you deserve the best and
that’s what this is! I usually have this as a mid-morning snack. And by the
way, ALL GOOD CALORIES! Don’t count them, just enjoy them.
