Mango Man’s
Applesauce Recipe

Sometimes I feel we should find something
beautiful to notice. It doesn’t have to be something you see, it could even be
just a scent. This summer, I kept on noticing a heap of night blooming jasmine
smells on my way home. Or maybe listen in to the sound of the breeze slightly
rustling the leaves in the trees. Or how about seeing the way the morning light
streams in at a low angle now, and how it catches one autumn leaf as it falls
gently to the ground.
I get the biggest kick out of the harmony
of the sounds of the birds and the crickets and locusts all day long, and it
jives with our circadian rhythm. I look for these things and cherish them. For,
although it may sound trite to some, these things are the “stuff” of life — the
little things we are put here on earth to enjoy. The things we often take for
granted. We must make it important to notice them, because at anytime … it can
all be taken away in an instant.
I guess that’s why I like to share
messages of good health with you in this blog each week. When we are healthy,
these little things really mean a lot. But when we are sick, nothing else means
a hoot to us except to get well.
I have snack recipe for you this week, and
it’s a great treat for any time of the day. Of the thousands of requests we get
each year just for snacks, I felt compelled to pass this one along to you.
It’s called Mango Man’s APPLESAUCE!
INGREDIENTS:
- 8 Figs
- 3 Golden Delicious apples
- 2 Dates, chopped
- 1 ounce of Raisins
Note: Use fresh figs if possible as they
are in peak season right now as we speak. Dried ones will do just fine if the
fresh ones are not available.
THE RECIPE:
- In your blender, put the 8 fresh Figs or the
8 soaked Figs & 1 ounce of soaked Raisins (in 4 ounces of distilled
water over night) along with the de-cored Golden Delicious apples (do not
peel the Apples)
- Put on a medium speed for about 30 seconds
- Put in a dish and put the chopped Dates on
top
Now this dish is a great breakfast but if you
are sitting around watching the tube at night and want that snack (as long as
it’s not within 2-3 hours of what you ate for your evening meal), then this one
will be a staple for you in your home. This could very easily be a school kid’s
afternoon snack just home from school.
Thanks for checking in, and all the best.
