Coronavirus:  How to be happier while working from home Millions of people need a home office for the first time. Some have perched at kitchen tables or made do with a laptop on the sofa for months. But even if a vaccine comes soon, many people may never go back to the office full time. And the early signs of how the pandemic has affected the UK's mental health are not good So what can we do to keep us happier at home? Let in the light  if you can, to put your desk near a window. Make sure you can draw the curtains back fully and clean the windows - inside and out. Dirt on windows can significantly reduce the amount of sunlight passing through them. Also, use mirrors to bounce light around the room, and paint the room either white or a light colour also to reflect the light. And choose an upstairs room if you can - they almost always capture more sunlight, as do rooms with a higher ceiling. Some healthy tips.

Aches, Pains and Swells As we grow body’s biological processes decline accordingly. We experience mild to severe aches and pains. Event can be mild, intermittent or continuous and could lead to dire consequences. Some studies have related the event to accumulation of blood uric acid levels (2019).   Uric acid  is a waste by-product of digestion. In digestion, the body breaks down purines in our foods with the help of the kidney. However, where there is too much purine at a time, it becomes too much for the kidney to break down. Then forms crystals and stay in our body  (Kidney stones …familiar?). Event leads  to pain, ache, swelling, stiffness, redness which sometimes restricts our movements .   Top 5 essential habits - work 1)     Keep good boundaries Your home needs to remain associated with feelings of rest, play and love as well as work. Keep your work papers to one room, and lock work away at the end of the day if you are in a shared space –no work litter! 2)     Take regular breaks Establish a routine that works for you. Have a start and finish time with regular breaks. The brain needs a break every 50-90 minute, and the body needs to move every 15 minutes   3)     Audit achievements Keep a running list of everything you have done each day and each week. Working From Home

Working From Home? Here's How To Better Integrate Your Professional And Personal Self The acceleration of the work-from-home culture over the past few months has required lots of logistical and emotional gymnastics. Seemingly overnight, we invited our corporate computers into our homes. Many corporate employees, including myself, rearranged their homes and routines to transition to this different mode of working and living. Further, the accelerated adoption of remote work has affected many industries, including my own — finance, an industry traditionally known for its formality and rigid structure. After a few months of sorting out our new work-from-home routines, we discovered that productivity can in fact happen from the comfort of our homes (some more comfortable than others). Now, with this foundational realization in place, we have a golden opportunity to pivot our attention to a more meaningful challenge, and that is the fuller integration of our professional and personal s...

Mindfulness At Work: Finding Balance While Working From Home Old patterns creep in. It doesn't take much time. You can fall back into them before you know it. When was the last time you listened to your emotions and accepted your feelings? How can we be more mindful at work?     Let go and breathe. Work can feel overwhelming, and we may forget to send ourselves messages of kindness and compassion. This year has been tough for everyone. So, how do we change our thinking and mindset? How do we make room for open conversations in order to be truly heard and free to be ourselves at all times? Psychological safety and trust go a long way. Each one of us aspires to be part of something bigger than ourselves Minimize constant meetings and distractions. Constant notification alerts for meetings and the continuous flow of emails into your inbox can leave little room for productive work and creativity. Here are a few of the disciplined actions I take to focus at work despite the ...

6 Life Hacks To Maximize Work-From-Home Productivity Wake Up on Time and Exercise Daily In a work from home set up, there are higher chances of a messed up morning schedule as you no longer have to catch a bus/train or spend time in traffic. The probability is high that you may wake up just before a Zoom meeting at 10 AM while your working hours start at 9 AM. Well, occasionally that works, but on a daily basis, you need to have a morning routine. The best way to do it is to wake up early or at least at the same time around every day. Do exercise or go for a walk, and boost your day with your favourite drink. It will make you feel refreshed and energetic for the entire day. Get Dressed Like You are at Work This is pretty basic, but basics are always good. Take a bath, comb your hair, and wear comfortable yet presentable clothes. Getting dressed up as you go to the office doesn’t mean you have to wear a tie or tuck your shirt in. But wear clothes that don’t make you feel mentally ...

Job Skills

3 Job Skills That Can Help You Thrive Amidst a Pandemic And Beyond The post-pandemic workplace will be a lot different to the one we knew, the marketplace will be a lot more competitive, remote working will become an integral part of life, and job security will not be what it once was Digital marketing Even before the pandemic, digital marketing proved revolutionary for businesses willing to take full advantage of its potential reach and ability to sell their brand around the clock. Here's the news—in a post-COVID-19 world, if you're not fully versed on how to make digital marketing work for you, your business will not survive. Ferres refers that, “As we have already seen during the lockdown, online shops were the only ones which thrived, and the only ads which worked were the ones people viewed on the internet, social media sites, and through apps on their mobile devices. In such a landscape, digital marketing is a crucial skill.” Once the pandemic eases and we return to a n...

How To Stay Happy Working From Home Who Benefits From Working From Home? The growing body of research showing that remote work is often better for both employees and employers has driven the global trend towards home-based work. This is especially true for people who transition to remote work suddenly and/or without an option to do otherwise. In these cases, cultivating happiness while working from home can be challenging. That is primarily because: The isolation of remote work damage...

Working From Home

Five Ways To Stay Energized While Working From Home 1. Divide up the day with a lunch break. Just like you would in an office, you should be taking breaks when you’re working from home. Set aside time each day for a lunch break. Although working through the whole day without a break might help you get work done faster initially, it’s not sustainable in the long run. By the end of the day, you’ll likely feel burned out, stressed and cranky. If you don’t give yourself the necessary time to unwind and refuel, your quality of work can suffer as well. 2. Add diversity to your workspace. If you’re feeling bored, uninspired and unmotivated while working from home, it might time for a change of scenery. Consider switching up your workspace to add interest to your routine 3. Keep your morning rituals the same. We’ve all been guilty of waking up right before work when all we have to do is open up our laptops. If you used to shower, make breakfast and get dressed every day before heading in...
